Healthcare Essential for Diabetics ( Part One)

Having the essential care for people with diabetes is very important for their wellbeing. Here is a  list of some of the checks:

Some patients that are not controlled have these checks every six months.

This is called your Annual Diabetic Screening:

1. You must measure your blood glucose level once a year to check your (HBA1C.)
The term HbA1c refers to glycated haemoglobin. It develops when haemoglobin, a protein within red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout your body, joins with glucose in the blood, becoming 'glycated'.

This is to measure your blood glucose control and help to set a target with your healthcare team. This is done by having a special blood test.

2. Your blood pressure level must be measured yearly.

3. You must have your cholesterol level measured yearly by doing a blood test.

4.. Your eyes must be checked for any sign of retinopathy yearly at an optician or at the diabetic clinic.

5. Your feet must be checked for skin and circulation problems yearly and  should be washed and moisturized and checked by you daily.

6. You must have your kidney function monitored. You have two tests, a urine test for protein and a blood test to measure your kidney function.

  1. My father-in-law, brother-in-law and mother all suffer/d from type 2 and in all three cases not monitoring their levels and cheating resulted in significant loss of eye health and leg pain. Too many people believe that they can just take more insulin and eat whatever they want. Great information thank you

I am so sorry to hear this sad story, but people ignore diabetes and it then destroy their bodies and their lives.
